I’m Mia Wexford, an Australian IT security specialist dedicated to helping people and businesses maintain online privacy and control. My expertise spans VPN architecture, secure communications, and cybersecurity education, and I combine formal training with more than fifteen years of hands-on experience.

I graduated from the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), where I built a strong foundation in information technology, network engineering, and cybersecurity principles. UTS gave me both the technical knowledge and the practical mindset to tackle real-world challenges in digital security.

Building Security from the Ground Up

My career started in the corporate telecommunications sector. From 2008 to 2012, I served as a Network Administrator and Security Analyst for a major Australian telecom company, gaining insight into ISP operations, data management, and encrypted network traffic handling.

Between 2012 and 2016, I worked as an IT Security Consultant for small and medium enterprises in Melbourne. I implemented tailored security strategies, conducted system audits, and trained staff to strengthen organizational security, while ensuring solutions were practical and user-friendly.

Independent Consulting and Privacy Advocacy

Since 2016, I’ve worked independently as a Security Consultant and Educator, focusing on VPN solutions, online privacy, and cyber hygiene for individuals and families. My work includes one-on-one consultations, security audits, content creation, and research into emerging threats and privacy-enhancing technologies.

I’m also actively involved in privacy advocacy in Australia, contributing to public consultations on data retention legislation, participating in cybersecurity forums, and supporting initiatives that promote privacy-conscious online behavior.
